drapeau franceHere are our favorite works of the moment, brought to you from France!

Book:

Missing Person (Rue des boutiques obscures) is a novel written by the literature Nobel price Patrick Modiano. It relates the story of an unemployed amnesiac detective who tries to remember his past. He lost track of himself right at the beginning of WW2. He then discover by tracking one by one his old friends who he really is: a Greek Jew who was living under an assumed name in Paris. This book takes us into the twists and turns of the very stormy period of the occupation of France, a period Patrick Modiano has always been obsessed with. This book was rewarded by the famous French literature price: the Prix Goncourt.

Movie:

Les tontons flingueurs is evidently one the most if not the most famous French movie. It’s a very French comedy about an former-gangster who gets caught back by it’s past. The godfather of his former organization had designated him to take over him right before his death. Most of the lines written by the great Michel Audiard became cult. It became through the years more and more a classic in French cinema as it was showed on TV. It now is programmed almost thrice a year on TV.
