The only way for a country to protect itself against terrorism is to fight it. The US is implicated in a violent, disobliging war against terrorists in Africa. Though the US is fighting Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Iraq, its attacking strategies have to be changed for there to be success. Last Wednesday, president Obama gave a speech in which he clearly announced that an adequate strategy needs to be found: “We have to develop a strategy that matches this diffuse threat – one that expands our reach without sending forces that stretch our military too thin, or stir up local resentments.” Part of this strategy is to help African forces who can support the US’s battle, for instance, the Pentagon is supporting a 22000-member African force. Overall, the main goal of this new strategy is also to partner with countries such as France or GB against terrorism.
