Brazilian festivities

BresilHere’s a list of the most important holidays celebrated in Brazil.

New Years Eve – The 31st of December to the 1st of January – On NYE Brazilians party a lot, drink Champagne, watch the fireworks and wear only white clothes to attract good energy.holbra4

Carnival – In February – In Carnival, Brazil celebrates dancing a lot, but especially samba. Rio de Janeiro and Salvador have the most famous Carnivals in Brazil, with special and unique celebrations.

holbraIndependence Day – The 7th of September – we do nothing special, but we don’t work or have classes on that day.

Not forgeting that it’s summer in here!

Our Lady Aparecida Day – The 12th of October – Our Lady Aparecida is the Brazil’s patroness, that’s why we have a special day in Her honor. It’s also children’s day, and kids from all over Brazil receive gifts from their parents.

holbra5Christmas – The 25th of December – We celebrate with our family on the 24th,  with lots of food. On the next day, the gifts that Santa brought for the kids are waiting under the Christmas tree, and the family reunites again to have lunch.
